The link below is from O/S, but not to say they don’t do it here, (already)
That said, when attending car shows with your cars,
Keep your wits about your surroundings and doors locked,
Where as the Air tag was placed in the grill in this article,
But I have heard, when the would be thieves have a look inside unique/custom cars, they can very easily drop a Airtag down besides the seat.
As our pride and joys are fast becoming collectors items, check your car before you leave car shows/displays that you attend.

For some reason, the tracking device trick reminds me of an old method that was used to steal high-end electronics items. When purchasing a new television or computer, or whatever, the friendly sales person takes down all your details for the tax invoice and warranty. You get home with your shiny new purchase and start setting it up. Then you find a small, but essential, accessory missing. So you call the friendly salesperson and they are profusely apologetic and say to come in immediately and pick up the missing bit. Unbeknown to the purchaser, the salesperson is on the take and lets an accomplice know your address and that you have left a brand new (whatever) unattended.

Obviously, there would be a little bit more to it than that. I suspect that they’d be making small chit-chat and trying to work out if you live alone or not.

Agree, kill switch is the cheapest option in my opinion

Funnily enough I use Airtags to track my own cars in case one happens to go somewhere without me. Also use club locks and in the case of the VN, a boot/wheel clamp. Yes, I’m paranoid. :) (Yes, I know club locks and boots aren’t impenetrable, but at the very least they’ll slow any would be thief down or make them reconsider taking one of my cars)
