Doing pretty well for a semi-point and shoot camera, the purple fringing on the branches against the sky can be minimised by narrowing the aperture down a bit more. She shot the first image at aperture f3.1, 1/90sec exposure and iso64. I would be narrowing the aperture to f5.6-f8, raising the iso to 160-250 and adjusting the shutter speed based on these settings to get proper exposure. By narrowing the aperture the lens will produce less purple fringing on dark-light borders like the tree branches. Basically, play with settings and see what different results she can get from the same location, time and composition in general.
Other recommendation is less easy, the reflections on the paint would normally be fixed by using a circular polarizing filter but I don't know how you can go about doing that on a non-SLR camera.
