No tags at all?
That would make it hard to work out what car was from factory but not impossible to get rough idea if you know what areas to look at.
If you know it was one of 6cyl base models then tags wouldn't matter that much.

If calais then it was either efi 6cyl or carb v8....extra brackets on passenger side for airbox/afm...if it was factory v8 should see lip on chassis rail curled over.
Diff & fueltank/senders if still factory items will tell if v8 or efi 6.

AVK 009435A is the 9,435th VK Chassis out of the Elizabeth plant in SA.
Around about 7 weeks into VK production.

Guess that makes it 1984 model if it's an early in production run.
Should be able to register although tags would make life easier...chassis number is it's identification.
Missing tags & being stripped out,missing most of it's parts may as well build whatever you want it to look like.
Might want to check with roads & traffic or authorities first to see it's still possible to legally register it down there & what is needed before spend any money on it.

Well you have the chassis number on strut tower, You have 2 Vehicle ID plate and the Body & options ID plate so you can tell what it is and what options it has @model, colour, engine, trans, etc etc.
As for Safety Compliance Plate and registering it, well you should ring your Govt agency (Vic Roads I think), even the Police and they will advise you on what to do next to be legally registered on the road due to missing plate.
National/state database might have old rego details matching body/chassis strut number and even old engine number.
Car/body is nearly 40 years old, might even been stolen/rebirthed/written off years ago, stripped for sale.
