surely the fuel is moving quick enough through the rails and not getting too hot

So, your going to run high pressure fuel through a old tran cooler core hanging at the front of the car somewhere? Just me, wouldn't be going anywhere near that.

Wont cooling the air going into your engine also cool the fuel as it is injected?
Not quite, as the fuel vaporises it heats and heats again as it is compressed both via the act of compression and the hot combustion chamber, it is not by much but the time it spends suspended in the intake is not enough by comparison.

The only time you get a cooling effect is with a cold motor where the charge is actually enrichened to compensate for the fuel condensing on the cylinder wall.

Sorry but I thought petrol Cooled when it goes from liquid to a gas?

Maybe in a supercharge motor or at atmospheric pressure but N/A it is in a vacuum.
I an no expert so I have no substance to back that up sorry.
If you have something to back it up then I am always ready to learn something.
