Hi guys. I came across an article about an EV show in 1996 in Beijing and found this. It's a LHD VN Commodore with a hybrid drivetrain conversion done in China by Beijing Auto. They also made a regular EV version and a petrol version powered by a Chinese 4 cylinder. Does anyone know anything about these cars? Or does anyone know someone with access to Holden archives? Holden must have been involved with this deal. A friend took photos of a petrol one on the street in the 90's that I'll try to post at some point.

Here's the fully electric one, the text on the side of both of them simply says "Electric Passenger Car" but the caption on teh article says the one with the text in yellow is the hybrid. I'll post a translation of the article soon.

3 yrs ago when the wife got back from China she mentioned her taxi was a Ve 4cyl fwd. I'd argue with her but she knows her cars well. Plus she asked the English speaking driver.

That is a 4cyl FWD Chev. The equivalent of our Cruze, but it has Commo style head and tail, parts taken off the Malibu
