Chirpping noise from bonnet hinge.

Hey,

I test drived a 11/2007 my09 Ve Sv6 43,194k's..

And as we took off he told me about a chirpping noise under the right back corner of the bonnet, and said it was the bonnet hinge needing some lubrication and

it is an easy fix and the cars under warranty if you have time to get it fixed.. He unlocked the bonnet hatch and the noise stopped.

I have booked it in to get looked at before I buy it.. But just want to be able to explain it easier, and how it can be fixed, when I take it in..

Had a good look in the threads but couldn't find what i needed..

If your happy with car tell dealer you will buy it if he fixes the issue.

Write it in as a condition on contract as well in case its not done.

great advice ^

if its the only concern to otherwise good car, put it in the contract as a written condition that the noise will be repaired/rectified as agreed and that this specific problem will be covered for 3 months (like the drivetrain warranty you get with all 2ns hand less than 10yo cars).
if they have a problem with doing this, you know its not an easy fix or a problem that may come back quickly. if they do write it in, you've got recourse.

would be careful about that noise bud!~
have a look and see if the gaps on either side of the bonnet are even all the way up each gaurd if one side is touching it might have had a prang and repaired...

Thanks txhog and ufo.. great advise and will be doing that first thing tomorrow..

No prangs tho, that is the first thing I asked, as got done 8 years ago..

This is what I wrote down from the checklist of whats been done and whats needs doing..

This is the only thing needs fixing..

Note from mechanic: Checked and found bonnet latch reqiured lubricating..

Found this rare as I couldn't find a thread about it, so thought I would post hoping someone else had had this problem.. It's an annoying chirp but stereo on you carn't hear, or drive with the bonnet unlocked which is not going to happen...

I will get my Mechanic friday to double check it hasn't pranged..

Hope is just an easy fix..

And the 2 other problems it had was

A/C light not showing turned on.

and excessive side ways shift in Steering column.. Both rectified..

Car passed road worthy just needed front 2 tyre's.. the speed rating was not right.. cheap tyre's..

And noise under bonnet, was hinge needing Lub so was a relief...
