Just bought a 2010 international ve, it has an after market aerpro facia for climate control and stereo. Problem is the climate control fan comes on even without the control being connected . As soon as ignition is turned on the fan starts. Ive removed the relay and it stops but as soon as its replaced it comes on again.
Need help

It may not be the climate control,
is it possible it’s just the thermo fan?
Have you heard the compressor cycle?, it’ll click as the clutch turns on and off. Which relay are you removing to stop the fan out of curiosity?
I might be way off track, but I’m just trying to help narrow it down

In my hast it isn't a relay its the HVAC Blower fu9 40 A when removed the heater / cooler fan stops as soon as its replaced it comes back on.

Maybe the HVAC system goes to a default setting when it doesn't sense a control input?

What happens when you plug the controller back in?

Same thing. As soon as ignition is turned on the fan starts running . Because the controller is after market aerpro unit you push and hold the on /off button but it doesn't turn off.

Well by unplugging it youve eliminated the facia as the problem. Im guessing that it has a short somewhere. Its going to be a process of tracing the wires back to sthe fuse box and see if there are any green crustys anywhere. A short has 3 states, short to ground, open circuit and short to power/another circuit. Maybe try pulling other fuses and see if pulling any others will kill the power to the fan. If it does, you will need to figure out where they cross paths and go from there.

IIRC the early VE’s didn’t have an AC clutch on yne compressor and relied on a PWM signal to control a compressor valve which varied the angle of the wobble plate within and thus the stroke of the pistons within the compressor. Later models had the PWM system as well as a clutch.

@Frustrated owner there is a factory VE workshop manual in PDF format that is floating around and it has a detailed description of the HVAC system with schematics (at least the clutch less type). Worth doing a search and looking through the threads for the doc.

Google search “site: forums.justcommodores.com.au ve workshop manual”

You should find a link to post that @rucxy made to his google docs folder

supposedly it’s the same doc as the following.

Worth downloading and looking through yje doc. If you read some of the threads from the google search you’d better understand how to navigate the doc using yne bookmarks tab within the PDF viewer.

Thankyou for that. I wasn’t aware they were PWM controlled
