Hi all,

I've noticed a dull clunk coming from what I think is the front passenger side somewhere. I spent the last few hours this morning underneath looking at linkages, rubbers, bushes etc and the only suspect thing I can find is what appears to be a wet spot from something leaking out of the shock on the front passenger shock.

I don't think that is supposed to be leaking and would that indicate time for replacement of both front shocks? And the rubber boots also look broken/missing exposing the piston. Drivers side looks fine but I'd do them both at once.

Cheers.

Worn shock absorber. You can see the oil around the top of it too.

Easy job. requires some specialised tools though.

Replace both front shocks and replace the strut tops too while you are at it.

Figured as much. I have ordered a pair of KYB's.
Best to order new strut top bushes, bearings, bump stops and shock boots too. They will all be worn out. Make sure you time the strut when you do it, if doing it yourself.

I’m a big fan of the SuperPro semi polymer tops. Comes with new bearings as they all do.

Yes I ordered the full kit 339154K & 339153K. I already have a set of spring compressors.

While it's all apart it's a good time to check everything else. We did mine early this year IIRC and basically the whole front end needed a rebuild. The arms, and gear weren't completely flogged out but they were starting to get there, anything with ball joints mainly. The arm bushes were pretty ok.

It can be a bottomless pit though, as you have to decide where you stop.

I have 168k on mine and I was surprised with the (good) condition that all of the joints/bearings/rubbers etc were in in all honesty.
