Code 68 - Auto Trans Slippage ???

I don't have a vr/s so I'm not sure exactly how it works but I know the gearbox doesn't shift normally once a code 68 is logged from what people have told me it throws the gearbox into some kind of limp mode and that's the end of that untill you clear it. I've had quite a few people ask me to turn it off

Limp mode keeps you in 3rd gear with the option to manually select 1st or reverse - it's like driving with an elastic band.
This site seems to indicate you fault is either the TPS or the VSS:

Just found out the problem is my second and 4th gear have completly gone. Is this fixable or does it require a full rebuild ? Anyone know anywhere in melb that could help out ?

TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) will do this. If it's broken it wont change gears. It sits at the top of the engine on the opposite side of the throttle cable, usually black bit of plastic.

NO it will go from 1st straight into third. And if you do it manually in second or 4th it will just go into nuetral.

your looking at probably $2k for a rebuild.

well a mate who is a trans specialist stripped the box and said the second and fowarth band had snaped. But got it fixed for 1 grand.
