ive heard you can compress your springs to a lower height premanently by compressing them with a spring compressor and heating them up with a heat gun.

has anyone done or heard of this, or does anyone know the proper way of doing this.

thanks

Good way to destroy the tempering of the spring.

Compressing the spring by the desired amount then having them "baked" in a kiln/oven is the only way to do it properly.

even if you could do it properly, a heat gun is never going to get hot enough to do anything to the spring apart from burn paint off, they used to LPG torch, but as said above. don't do it, companies around do it for about $25 a spring maybe less.

Yeah you can but you'll never get ur car to sit or ride correct because unless u can heat each spring exactly the springs will be un-even. Also you're more likely to do damage to suspension components. Just buy ones from a trusted manufacture.

Was just reading this thread and decided to buy some new springs as to compress them (in NZ) it costs about $300 to do so.. for $400 i can get brand new front and rear springs, no cert needed.
