When you flushed the radiator the car and engine would have been cool from not running.
You most likely topped up the coolant and closed the lid, started the car and checked for leaks.... and everything would have looked normal.
If you ran the car for approx 5-10 mins and checked the coolant level you would have seen that it dropped as the thermostat would have opened up and allowed water to flow through the engine. This is quite normal.

The thermostat is basically a valve that is tempreture sensitive and will open and close to regulate engine tempreture by allowing more or less cooler water from the radiator through it.

Just make sure that you keep your coolant level between min and max.... and keep a regular eye on it in the next few days to make sure you dont have a leak or another problem.
Hope this helps.
