Changed all pads, shims and rotors around 8,000km ago as they were due and everything seemed fine until I started hearing this crunchy noise pretty much when changing gear or when letting the brakes off when first starting the car, any ideas on why it could be happening?

Also the only thing I haven't tried to do yet is put anti-seize between the rotors and the wheel hub.. is it possible this could be an issue?

Cheers

Sounds like the Pads are to small for the callipers ?

Usually noticable straight away but are the inner and outer pads in the right positions? Otherwise maybe handbrake shoes sticking.

Well I'm 99.99% sure they're the correct pads (db1765) and the control arms are fine.. I took this video a few months ago as I thought the calipers may be loose but the problem with the video is the rotor isn't secured with a wheel nut which may be why theres a bit of movement:

Other than that, all nuts and bolts on the knuckle and caliper are tight

Also located in the extravagant western suburbs ;)

Usually noticable straight away but are the inner and outer pads in the right positions? Otherwise maybe handbrake shoes sticking.

Fairly certain they are as the little nubs (that hold the shim in place on the pads) interfere with correct placement in the caliper but probably could have a look at that

If handbrake shoes are sticking is the solution to loosen them a bit and have a suss?

Slide pins on caliper

It won't be the pins. The bore the pins slide in is softer than the pins them selves so the pins will wear the bore down.

Shouldn't need any anti seize between the hub & rotor

It sounds like something is contacting the back plate, definitely a sheet metal resonant type of sound

Is this the first brake job you have done? Have you got the right rotors?

Was going to say that. Something is contacting the backing plate. Is the hose re-connected up?

Also, whats the chances its the park brake binding in the back?

common mistake a lot of ve/f owners make is installing the pads the wrong way they are inner and outer only, look at the back of the pads and see the pins in the middle its the inner they fit between the pistons outer have 2 pins spaced to fit in the arches of the caliper
