I accidentally forgot to take a pic of the next step but all you need to do is bog up the surround with some body filler then keep sanding till nice and smooth and desired shape is made. (note; this step will take a while, it took me a good couple of hours to get everything right)
After sanded smooth give a good think coat of primer filler that you can sand down to get rid of any blemishes, tiny holes etc;

That should be Thick :)

Great work on this. Best looking gauge mount ive seen!
