Inlet manifold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thought that was a pretty interesting read especially about the Helmholtz resonance

The main problem really is that you could get it to work but you need to be able to change the tune at will and have the car off the road till you get it running. Unless you have a second car you cant really do it over a weekend

If your playing with manifold design and tunes unless your using a tried and tested Mrc performance/come racing manifold your nuts to do it to your daily and expect not get buggered around!

SO your talking simular to the V8 rover engine? FLutes in the plenum.

Problem i can see is your adding more bends. Slows air speed yada yada yada. What your trying to elimitate is all the bends the air has to pass through thats why you only see straight trumpets.

Will it slow it yes...
But bent trumpets can work... Stock runners are curved, the "porn above does same thing...
Honda and Toyota itb set ups have 90 degree bends in them aswel. Not ideal but when each runner has its own tb a bend will still give air speed that craps all all over the factory plenum where cylinders scavenge from each other.

Also they aren't flutes in my amazing diagram direct bent tubes from the ports in manifold to the tb on the side wall... Basically an enclosed of the porn set up.

that diagram you drew was more or less my thought of doing things, except instead of the flutes you speak of, run a nipple off the top of the tbs into the vacuum canister...your vacuum booster will take from the canister, as well as having your map sitting on the canister as well.

Problem is, what do you do about the PCV now? block the hole off and just run a breather off the valve cover? is that sufficient?

I think there is a place in the US that makes an ITB manifold to suit the earlier Buick V6 engines (GN style). Maybe see how they did it.

You also need to remember that those porn type carbon fibre manifolds like the one shown above sit inside a large airbox and is fully enclosed from the engine bay when the engine is running.
