damn power steering

what is it with the power steering system in my car. i got the rack and pump replaced eariler this year (rack leaked like a sieve and the pump had a crack in it). today it went in for a service, and they say the rack is leaking again, they only replaced it with a brand new one a few months ago the new rack/pump have a 5yr warranty, but it's only been around 5months before it's developed a problem.

any suggestions as to why its so problematic?

Power Steering Pump's are very popular item with Commodores, they just don't last. Next time I'm going to try to fit a Toyota pump as they last forever.

You say you had a brand new rack and pump put in or a reco? My reco pump lasted just 13 months. One month after warranty ran out :bang: Commodore PS has never been the most reliable thing invented.

brand new pump and rack was put in, mechanic even gave me the brochure/documentation, of which was mention of a 5yr warranty. may have only just made it to 6 months
