Dash warning for vy 2004

Hi, my holden, when starting has a warning on dash saying brake light failure/brake fuse failure.
Ive replaced a blown bulb and renewed the fuses for lights but warning in dash still there. All the lights are working fine, my brake fluids level is good. How can I fix this?

Thanks, ill give it a go, its a holden commodore executive ll. I had a locksmith cut me a new key, I wonder if he disrupted the computer, I did have a blown bulb though I think.

Exec wow. I wasn’t aware they even had that warning on lower spec models. Was it “brake light failure” or “brake light relay failure” you mentioned both?, I’m more curious for future reference. Your 3rd brake light obviously works fine too?

Well it says both-first says brake lamp failure then says brake fuse failure. I push mode to see stats on screen with warning flashing on side. Yes ive checked the other lamp above backseats. Can't really afford an auto electrician or mechanic just now.

Yeah. That’s a new one to me on an Exec. Is more a Berlina or Calais feature.

Glad you agree Fu Manchu, they earth behind the right rear taillight not to the bcm if I remember correctly. Maybe someone has put a hi or lux bcm in his car, this is a confusing one.
Does the error pop up on every ignition cycle when braking? Does the little icon stay on the MFD for the whole drive also?

Thanks for the info, however the VY series ll sedan owners handbook states the exact problem im having except it also says when problem fixed warning goes away. 2 mechanic and 1 auto electrician have never seen it and can't help without loads of cash. I really think the locksmith when programming a new key for me may have entered incorrect maké of car or something

It’s very unlikely that the locksmith has done anything to your car unless it was on purpose. Programming keys is simple with the right scantool. Just out of curiosity did you try the bulb learn procedure above, that fixed the same issue with my car after after fitting led globes to my tail lamps, brake lights and number plate lights.
