Decent stereo in a VN

Hey everyone, I have a Standard VN, with a decent Pioneer Head unit, and I was looking for a bit of advice on doing up the stereo a bit. I'm thinking about putting in a couple of 10" subs, I've found some pioneer ones in proper pioneer boxes for $175 each, then I'll have to get an amp/amps... Does anyone have any thoughts? Am i thinking along the right lines, or should I go a different route? I'm hoping to spend about $600, but more or less is ok, to a reasonable limit.....
