Hi I have a 06 Vz Ss manual looking at a trutrac lsd and 3.9 ratio gear set what’s a good brand to go with regarding gear sets?

Genuine spicer.

3.7, 3.9 is great for tr6060 but if it's still a t56 I'd be looking at 4.11's.

I'd choose a gear set your happy with, I'd go 3.9's but I'd choose Dana as they are generally alot quieter that Motive. I have a 3.9 set in my car atm and it has a really nasty deceleration whine. Will go back to Dana in time.
Harrop for the truetrac.

There are 2 brands last time I checked in with diff bloke...one brand supposedly noiser than other.

Told him I'll let him buy new gears for the warranty & if annoyingly noisey he has to deal with it lol

3.9 & trutrac will work well

I was speaking to my mechanic today about this whining....Motive (gears) are machined on one side....depending how they are installed will whine one side or the other...ie accelerating or decelerating...Dana are machined both sides and likely to be quieter.

That doesn't make sense?

Maybe you are referring to how the gears are lapped in? My Motive gear set was factory lapped but was still noisy, I'm sure it was my fault as I didn't have the correct pinion shims and so the pinion height is slightly off which made the gear depth/mesh wrong.

If you're in the Sth Auckland region talk to the guy at Diff Specs in Drury. He seems to have a really good reputation. I always used Steelie Gears (Otahuhu) but he's no longer about and so I decided to build my own diff last time. It works, it's a little noisy but hey, it was my first go. Live and learn.

The motives are known for being possibly noisy. Our old diff guys wouldn't use them after they took a customer's down 3-4 times changed settings within the factory windows to try and improve it.

The three places I've spoken to in Perth won't whine warranty motive an they're all diff specialists
