what are the bushes like. i hear the top control arms have alot to do with diff hop/chatter, especially if the bushes are worn.

Is your car lowered too? Adjustable upper control arms will reset the angle of your diff so your uni's don't work so hard.

the top control arms are the 2 arms that connect from the top of the diff to the chassis about about 25cm long from memory. check all your bushes whilst your there though. sometimes it paysto fit aftermarket adjustable ones so that you can correct the pinion angle as well. some come fitted with a spherical bearing on one end which allows the suspension freer (spelling??) movement through it's range of motion as normal bushes can bind a little. also if you haven't already i would recommend nolathane type bushes, they flex/move less to maintain better suspension geometry

Just a thought, arent we forgetting its IRS??

it could be but it could also be a trailing arm setup. not all VS commodores are IRS and seeing as he's asking about diff hop/chatter that's what i'd assume.
