I have seen a absoloutely smashed (twisted cv joint) half shaft on a brand spankers VY or VZ HSV (it`s been a while now and god only knows how that happened :hmmm. This is only the second time iv`e known of one to fail. But there is probably more out there that have failed. Generally you will find they are extremly strong enough for most road cars.
