Yes I'm a Taxman, and worse still, I work in the Debt Collection area.
Sorry I have been instructed already to only offer general advice and advise people to call 13 11 42 if they have a problem with a debt. I knew to do only this already.
Special Assistance is available for any victims of drought or Bushfire or those with client's that are affected.
If you are having trouble meeting any Lodgement or Payment deadlines, call the above number and I guarantee you will receive assistance, just don't ignore it. Call before the due date and an extension may be granted if there is a valid reason given. Just a tip : having no money is not a good reason if it was an expected debt unless there are extenuating circumstances. If an extension is/can not be granted you can put forward a payment proposal to pay the debt by instalments. Interest will generally be charged on payment arrangements and you must meet future obligations to prevent the arrangement defaulting.
Each case is looked at on it's merits along with the Client's ability to pay.
I am not allowed to run a thread titled "Ask the Taxman" as it may be seen as offering assistance to a select group only.
