My dad keeps on complaining that the hardlid isn't the same colour, I do admit it is slightly darker but I don't see it being bad.
I got it from HSP Ute Lids. I told them my colour code, and the colour type (from the rego papers) and everything. They didn't ask for any pictures because they said they have all of Holden's colours (something along those lines) and they also told me it was an international colour. I don't think they screwed me over.
Although I'll add that the tail gate is brand new (old one had a dent and got a new one recently) and I have to admit the colour looks more closer to my car original colour. With that is I went searching for the hardlid myself whilst my dad got that tailgate for me.

Here some pictures:

I think it also depends on the lighting. But I'll let you be the judge.

Thanks,

What year is the car ? 2014 minus how many years of washing / dirt / polishing / rain / sun . All these will make the original paint a different color to the paint Code applied in factory , most panel shops will lighten or darker the color patch to match the paint originally on car

If you have two different materials
metal and then the fiberglass/carbon fibre I assume is the lid
it absorbs and reflects differently the lid is almost a flat surface - the body has curves

Is this two pac paint or special

its never going to match perfect unless all done at the factory

anyway the gold metallic aftermarket is a pain to match or blend ..you have to paint whole panels

all you can do is take it to a paint sprayer and respray the lot for perfection

It is a 2002 model. I had all that in mind, I might look around for panel beaters see what they can do.

this must be two pack paint as well

Yeah it is a fibreglass lid, I can understand where you are coming from. I guess that is the risk you have to take when getting aftermarket parts.

looks like too much clear coat has been put on it,when you spray on the clear coat ,it gets darker with each layer you have to know when to stop.maybe the cheapest and easiest way would be to cut it back one layer and polish it,see if that makes a difference, also looks like someone didn't stir the paint properly before painting it.

To be honest just run with it , looks pretty similar in the pics , no point wasting coin on repainting it for some dick to scratch it out of spite at a carpark.
Look at the lid and roof of the ute from a verandah in sunlight and if it's only a subtle differnce than leave it

For what its worth, I think the ute lid is a better match to your side panels than the tailgate, which I think looks too light. Unless you are a perfectionist (and flush with cash) I would just leave it.

Looking at the photos it looks ok to me, that colour can have varies shades to it depending on the light hitting it, you are also looking at a horizontal panel compared to the vertical panels so the light probably refects differently, might be different looking at the car itself but the photos to me look acceptable.
