So why did he create the thread in the first place?

I expect this will go like most threads on JC. He has already bought the VCM without doing any research (not saying its bad) and is now trying to justify his purchase with an ass-about discussion thread.

It could have been that OP also started the thread to see if there were other points of view rather than blindly following the conventional response given on a particular forum, since many tend to parrot the same thing without any real justification for it.
