(im a poet but i dont know it)
A bit a bass does no harm to anyone its a good sound what i cant stand is people who sit in car parks with their stereo on full so everyone in the shopping centre or wherever you are can hear it. And its not the doof doof its like the radio but we can all hear it, thats just selfish.
I personally blast my bass most places i go just not at places like car parks or side streets, even at red lights ill turn it down coz i dont want to look a knob. Its not showing off when i play mine i genuinely like it.

I dont really see the fuss in a bit of bass because theres some guys on here who have huge f**k off exhausts on their cars which you can hear from further away than a stereo.

I see, two wrongs make a right? I dont think any of us enjoy the sound of some loser's exhaust penetrating our living quarters at any hour enjoyable either, typically doof-doof and loud exhausts are one in the same and are just indicative of some of the f.. ..ts in society that dont give a stuff about anything other than themselves.

No im not saying two wrongs make a right. Im saying some people have the loud exhausts INSTEAD of the bass

Well qualified? So someone with 15 years work in car lighting knows more about human sight than an optometrist? Suggest you research the literature out there, audiologists tell us excessive bass can damage hearing, burst eardrums etc. I think you are confusing your message that only sounds over 1000Hz can cause damage with the fact that typically hearing loss is experienced in the high frequencies first, completely different to loud bass noises causing damage to us.

Only the faster waves damage ears? lack of knowledge or just a slip up? changing the rate of vibration doesnt change the speed of the wave.

I too suffer from tinnitus. It takes all my hearing to just listen out for bits falling off my VN's - so no loud music for my old ears anymore. Sad as it is for all the doof doof addicts the time will come when you hear no more. The Doof Doof is replaced with the sound a jet engine a 1/3 power screaming in your ear all the time. Not nice at all and you miss most of what people are saying when a few people get talking.

But thats OK for some youngsters as they wont live to old farts like me.

I feel for you. Mine does not appear to be as bad as yours and I intend to keep it that way. Try some jaw exercises; do a youtube search. When I try to sleep and it starts ringing bad, if I position my jaw in a certain way for about 30 secs and then release, it helps a lot.

Thing is, most people on this forum who read about our affliction will simply shrug their shoulders and pay for it later on in life.

This problem happened to me from ONE concert... imaging what is happening to the ears of those who listen to laud music daily.

Some of you may think 'I listen to laud music every day an nothing has happened so you must have sensitive ears'. Well the problem will not start manifesting until later on in life... I assure you. Go to your local hospital and just ask how long it takes to get an Ear Specialist appointment. 3 - 6 months. So there are a heck of a lot of people out there with ear related problems and a lot is from laud music in their youth and young adult years.

I've gotta say i don't usually shy away from loud things.
I'm usually up the front for festivals and the likes because it's loud and i'm with my mates. At times i've thought, f**k this is loud and went to the bar to get a couple drinks and chill away from the speakers but other than that i'm always pretty much at the front.
With car audio, my stereo is stock standard but still reaches a pretty reasonable level. That being said, yeah i play my music loud and i listen to all varieties of music which do include a lot of doof doof but i keep it reasonable when needed. For example, suburban areas, red lights, gridlock traffic, parking lots or when i need to concentrate like in heavy rain or nearing construction sites etc etc. More or less anywhere where i am in direct sight of the public so i'm not labelled as a douchebag. Every now and then though it's funny to make the people next to you put their windows up due to your music when they've been giving you the shits previously.

I do believe you will live to regret this.
