I just replaced mine and it fixed the grabby catch almost perfect. Since I didn't have the special tool, I used a piece of stainless rod about 3-4mm thick. Once started you can get a pair of regular pliers on the flare and using a panel hammer carefully tap it out.
A large, long flat screw driver with the flat side on the flared end works to drive them back home, by keeping the screwdriver horizontal, once they are in about 5mm.
I didn't need a second person, although it might have helped. I just used a screw jack under the outside corner of the door, like Immortality said.
