Door handle problem

Hi there, I’m having trouble with my inside door handle on the driver’s door of my vy , I have to pull the handle fully and push the door to open it, it’s like the inside handle is needing some adjustment as it’s only just working, has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to fix it , I was thinking of taking the door trim off and maybe putting a little kink in the rod to the latch to slightly shorten it and make it pull better ? , any suggestions ? If it’s an alloy satin silver handle, I have come across one that was bent.

maybe see if adjusting the striker plate helps ?
