Hi I was just wondering if there was anywhere in South Australia that I could do a defensive driving course? Cheers

Don't know but i've heard the offensive driving courses are much more fun :p

Ok, I should throw you a bone, I found the following via a google search so check their sites and give one or all a call ;)

https://www.drivesmartdrivingschool.com.au/defensive-driving-courses/

https://www.redballoon.com.au/product/defensive-driving-course---adelaide/DDS363-M.html

https://drivetolive.com.au/

I can't vouch for any of them as never done such a course.
When i was a lad, I learnt on quiet roads devoid of cameras and hoon laws (but still behaved sensibly)

Cheers :)

I've done defensive driving courses with my prior work three times (UK sorry!)

The quality has varied a fair bit but overall its a very useful idea. Its always good to get some professional advice on your driving habits, as everyone tends to form and slip into bad ones. You might often disagree with what they say or suggest but it gets you thinking.
Adjusting road position to aid sight lines for curves is a great tip for any driver.

The most useful thing that I did in one was a full emergency stop from 60mph. In the UK driving test you only do one from 30mph, which is pretty tame. The feeling and experience of doing higher speed ones (in someone else's car!) is really useful.

One chap I knew that did a defensive drivers course half a lifetime ago was told never to have his window 1/2 way down. He was told it should be either fully up or fully down as in a side impact from the passenger side, the driver could loose the top half of ones head hitting a half open window (the glass top edge). That was before side air bags so it may not be so relevant these days.

Defensive driving courses have a lot to do with risk, accident and injury reduction/minimisation ;) Nothing to do with handling oversteer or understeer, rather, more on how to avoid getting into such situations in the first instance :p
