Hey guys,

Just a quick question.

Lately my fuel guage (both needle and digital display) has been moving normally like a good fuel guage should.

but often by about the 3/4 tank mark my DTE will be reading 300ks to go. which i know is bullshit as it has taken 150ks to get to the 3/4 mark and will pull about 550-600 if i was to push it to the limit.

my concerns are

a - is the fuel being consumed at a faster rate and my fuel sender is fuct

b - 02 sensors goooorn? (but from reading threads it seems like a fake fix)

c - something else you guys have dealt with and fixed? (hopefully)

i have driven on and ignored the DTE and reached an easy 270-300ks by the 1/2 tank mark, but the DTE will be getting down to the 180-200ks mark by half tank.

I've tried pulling the batt off to reset the ecu incase there was some strange fuel consumption error in the ecu, but the DTE will reset to 750ks to go initially, then decline at a massive rate again.

I'm lost on this one, i figure someone out there should be able to shed some light on it!

cheers all!

- Ciaran

so trust the DTE, not the fuel guage?

also my car is running really sluggish and crappy. mmm.... the tranny service is due next service. maybe that will throw out a

ill run the current fuel out and try elsewhere, that may be part of the prob. I didnt trust the quality of the fuel as soon as i bought it (crappy idle, and sluggish)

so my prognosis (correct me if im off the mark)

its a bit a macgyver solution but here goes!

the o2 sensors are fuct, this could be tricking the ecu into thinking that the air fuel mix is richer than it is, causing what appears to be higher fuel cons when it isnt that bad.

but that would be actually causing it to drink more.....

hmmmm... still think the o2 sensors or some part of the air/fuel system is a bit bung. hopefully the next service will throw up some error codes!

o2 sensors only have a service life of 80-100,000km's

Also get your auto serviced at a transmission specialist so they can preform a full system flush....
