here goes, what is the difference between standard 1st gen brake calipers versus VN,VP calipers apart from the vented casting. is the piston bigger in diameter? please lets not discuss VTs as this has been done a million times

piston bore looks the same to me.
main difference looks like it's mounted further outwards to allow for a larger diameter rotor and finned for cooling. otherwise looks the same and runs same pads

Anybody know if you can use the finned VN V8 and VP S1 caliper on the S2 VP 23mm thick rotors? If not why not?

yep, i just put vn v8 berlina ones on my vq s2 caprice, the difference is in the rotor thickness (plus the abs ring on the inner side) not in the calipers

So will the rotors work that i have? Or will i have to get new ones?

seems pointless to me without a larger piston and same pad size why have a larger disc without having a larger surface area of pressure. so ultimately if i want better brakes i have to go vt or ve. and to run vt i must run a 16" rim.
