The diff and tyre size affect overall gear ratio.
I still do not think that you can multiply ratios of gears to see what you have. That just doesn't seem right.

True...

I don't know what if any affect running the test in second rather than third would do, other than the higher torque figure.

Third being 1:1 ratio where the planetary gears are locked together and rotate as a single lump might have less friction losses than first or second gear where the planetary bits roll around each other.

VK modified dirt curcuit car
Hey guys
New to this thread, but been reading for a while.
I have a VK modified dirt curcuit car.
Running a 304 against a swarm of LS Chevs.
Every one is trying to convince me to join the LS side but I’m not interested in joining that mob of sheep.
So I’ve built a new 304.
I wanted to keep it stock stroke with spike rods forged flat tops.
I ended up getting a set of RPM alloy heads and air gap manifold, spent a few days port matching and cleaning up short turns and plenum.
Machined them down to 55cc.
Cam is a custom 244 @50deg and 580 lift 108 love separation.
YT Platnum 1.75 rockers.
650 Holley 4150 double pumper.
Ice 2 stage ignition
Manta 1 3/4 primaries 3” collectors.
It’s in the car now and running and sounds bloody nasty.
I will get it tuned in a couple of weeks to see what we have got.
Will give u an update then..,.

Good luck it’s hard holding onto the old 5L in a field of LS :(
We are the same in burnout scene. It’s lonely being a 304 in a world of LS and Barras

Totally need a dedicated thread to this build (V8 development section)
And you need to add pictures.

Maybe @Immortality can move it for us?

Yes it’s gunna be interesting. We will be ringing its neck, but I think we have the rest of the car set up pretty well so hopefully will take it up to them….

Doesn't matter, you'll sound better doing it no matter what.

edit:
Is that a single or dual plane manifold? If it's the dual plane try running it with a 1" open spacer, others have found that gives a better result as it evens out an imbalance the manifold seems to have.

It’s a high rise dual plane, will definitely try a spacer to get the last drop out of her….
