Luxury VY 3.8ltr Supercharged 6
Hello.

I'm considering dropping an early model v8 304 5.0 litre Engine into a VY SV6 Sedan.
I'd like as much info as possible on the conversion.
Will I need new heads due to later computer systems and injection methods..
Theres a whole lot I need to know so firstly, is it possible?
Secondly, is it mostly a drop in bolt on swap, or is it a waste of time trying..
Thirdly, I have the beer fridge ready, someone told me thats the most important thing.

I need ya help.

Thanks.

Just don't. Sell your car and buy another.

5.0 litre? Not a chance in hell! These were phased out way in the VT, so if you're after the 5.0 specifically, then an early VT is the go.

As for the LS1, well yeah, it can be done. But the cost, time etc involved, just sell your car, buy a V8 and be done with it.

If the engine turns out to be from a vt, is it a fairly simple process?
I know there'll be mods required etc etc.. just wondering about the overall simplicity, Ive done plenty of motors.. just not sure about dropping a v8 into a v6 ..

As everyone has said. It will certainly be better on your wallet to sell the car and buy a v8..

Obviously just about everything is possible however you would want to have alot of time, patience and most importantly $$$$$$.

Not really feasible unless you really really want to keep the current shell for some reason.

Ok lets put it this way,

You'd need a K-frame, Headers, Exhaust, ECU, BCM Mod, Custom wiring loom, Radiator, and all other associated gear from a VT 5ltr.

And even then, It wouldn't get a mod plate because it is an older motor in a newer car.

You'd be better off with a PLUG & PLAY Ls1 conversion or buying a new car.

The cost of the conversion would probably match the cost of car with V8 anyway. If you feel like burning cash then go for it.
