ok, i know its not holden... its ford:|
but it was 200 and clean, no rust... motor that runs to get it from a-b for the moment etc etc....Also no commy, i killed it .... i havent been on here for ages and when i was it didnt really matter all that much. everybody in here new what they were doing so im hoping things havent changed..

anyways!!!

i have got my little escort! i havent actually checked what year it is exactly but pretty sure 79 or something like that.

i purchased a half cut rx7 motor with all the pipe work intercooler a chip n a lil other crap, it runs around 180kw@rw. im considering paying another 4,500 for a worked motor but not to sure as i will have to upgrade everything....

unsure of the breaks upgrade, drive line and diff...... not sure what fits in, whats strong etc... im hoping the rs2000 or what ever they are fit in fairly easy etc...

looking along the lines of going a dark dark purple or a black with purple pearl... not tooo sure how it all works and not real keen on spending much more then $3,000 on the paint.

interior im hoping to do all in white and pick up some nice seats around i havent looked into the interior as such, but looking at a pair a mate had taken out of an lj torana and reupholstered as he works in that line. the owner never came back with money or for there seats. there a cream but i was chasing a white, not sure with colour coding either..

umm, wheels not sure tooo far ahead...

body wise i was looking at smoothing over a few things, ie door handles fuel filler... would fill the petrol from boot, have all doors etc open by keyless, battery in boot that would have clips if it ever went flat. the drip tray around tops of windows im looking at cutting off and smoothing back.... anybody done this or know if it would be that big a deal?? its a major rust area aswell as it would be different and give the car a nice rounded edge at the end...

also chrome grill is been made, see how it turns out. will work out if i keep or sell on e-gay. lol.

Are the brakes on the escort front and rear disk? or rear drum? Id be putting much larger brakes in it for 180rwkw, possible some 10inch disks from a Morris Marina, paired with a duel channel master cylinder and booster. I tell you, those things stop. For that setup your looking at about $2k. I think they go on pretty easy as well.
Another option are 4 wheels 8inch torana disk brakes.

Or without engineeers cert, go for RS#### brakes

Suspension will need to be upgraded to handle the weight and the power. For a drive line maybe look at shortened commodore drive line or get an rx7 drive line. For the diff, look for something with a similar ratio to the original, keeping in mind the extra weight of the escort over the rx.
Go a full chassis to handle the power, and even though the original chassis should handle that power, its better safe then sorry. And a good chassis will help the handling of the car.

As for filling the fuel from the boot, look at incorporating the filler behind the number plate, like the x series falcons. Putting the filler in the boot is not the smartest of ideas as it will probably leak vapors into the cabin and boot cavity, which is a fire and health hazard.

Cutting the 'guttering' around the windows is possible, we did it once, we cut it back as far as we could then ground it back till it was plush with the rest of the roof, or just a little lower, then used putty to smooth it over.

Getting a good paint job for 3k is possible, but a good paint job with pearl for 3k is looking doubtful

yeah i have looked at suspension, not sure what i will use yet im hoping a local wreckers has an escort thats been lowered in it, maybe a sway bar, not exactly on the ball with that exactly i will have to do alot of reading!

Good luck trying to get RS2000 stuff, its not easy and its usually really pricey.

Cant go past a gun metal silver with the X-pack body kit!

You cna buy most suspension stuff new from specailty places. My mate did so...

just lowering might not be enough, im not sure, but id be going much stuffer shockies and spings to match. The ride wont be so fluffy, but it will hold the road much better.

The xf ford setup would be easy to incorporate. There should still be roof in the front for the battery, the rotary engines are tiny

batterys just look better in the boot... lol. i like the idea of it, makes it easier for audio setup later on too...

i was wondering what ford gear would line up with it, well. what was around the same time would be similar etc..

going to do abit more homework.. i had a reco on my ankle few weeks ago i got a few more weeks at home yet... :)

ok, rigged it up with a mate, he does a type of auto electrican, mainly installs crap into cop cars and taxi's.

chasing a remote that will open 4doors, boot, maybe a start button for car too....

mate uses 4 button ones but chasing the 6 up for me:)


few relays n maybe diodes i think i can rig it all up....

my theroy is to have the doors hinged so they fall open all the time.....

when shut there "locked" have no door handles what so ever just, inside or out.

it would be like a central locking setup. the motor goes off by touch of button on remote or on the doors somewhere.....(maybe in an ash tray or something. lol. wouldnt want it hit by accident)

so ruther then the handle been activated into "open" "closed" "lock" "unlock" it would always be open and only locked or unlocked...

or other way around, always unlocked and open and closed.


hard to explain.. hopefully not as hard to wire up:)

the system would need to be rigged up like a commodore central locking circuit. Ie. Push once and drivers door opens, twice the others open. Problem with this is that if you only want the passenger side door, the others will open as well. How would you hinge the door? By hinging it you restrict the angles of which the doors can be opened - say you parked on an incline, with the drivers side facing the bottom of the hill. The drivers door would open easily but the passenger door may not open at all.

it would be set up with a 6 channel remote. (just a remote off ebay with 6 buttons) each has its own signal. so out of each one of those channels you run your cables to the relay and each door is set up on each button. (maybe have a master)

im thinking i would hook them to miny gas struts. similar to a boot...

but this would mean if i parked in a tight place it would open until it hit something. lol..

so im not hundred percent yet... still working on it.... i seen it done on a car few years ago.. im digging up alllllllllll the old magazine to have a read of it!!

also this motor could be going tt'd =)but not 100% yet... working out what i have to do to clean it up...
