Just interested to know the experience of drivers who have owned a vt or vx supercharged commodore sedan auto.

issues such as;
cost of ownership parts, maintenance, tuning etc.
assuming non radical driver - is petrol consumption noticeably different from non supercharged?
Would you own one again.?

My mates mum owns a VY L67, I rebuilt the short block on it.
The super chargers can get a bit long in the tooth, they need an oil change every now and then, I can't recall the KM they need to be done, but many mechanics don't know this and don't change the oil.

Other than that they're pretty much like a a normal V6.

As above, like everything, regular maintenance is key to longevity, but they can be rebuilt fairly easily, I believe they can have issues with their bearing in the snout or something

I've never owned a L67, but there's heaps of info on them

Apart from the brains trust, YouTube is also your friend here

I purchased a VT supercharged S in 1999 brand new, I still have it. It's done just under 195,000 kms. It is my daily driver.

I had the supercharger coupler changed a couple of years ago. It sounds like rocks rattling in the supercharger when this is on the way out. The coupler was around $60., labour extra.

I have changed the supercharger oil myself, quite straightforward.

No other special maintenance is required.

Fuel consumption is around 16.9 l/100kms for suburban driving. I have changed the supercharger pulley to a 10psi one. Apart from this change, the motor is as it left the factory.

No other special maintenance is required.

I'd gladly own another one. I'd like to find a VX Executive with the supercharged motor.

Yes, I would buy another one if it was available, and had the money,
I have a VY L67 and is as stock as a rock,
and the fuel efficiency is great,
even with me giving it a bit of a squirt on the freeway.,
Especially for a Super6.
Maintenance is very much the same as a L36, very similar parts for maintenance,
Registration is the same as a L36,
The insurance is more for younger drivers under 40,
being it’s not approved for P plate drivers,
As it’s classed as a high powered vehicle by some insurance providers.
