Was it noisy before hand? May have a seized bearing in the fan.

Get hold of a Multimeter and see if there is voltage at the connector,
From there, you can look either way,
If there is volts there, it possible the fan motor,

If there is NO volts there, you need to then look from the Fan Switch to the Relay,
It could be the Fan [speed] Resistor. [Was a common fault for fans not to work]

Beautifully quiet

I'd be making sure it's getting full power to it.

Possibly even powering it up to see if it goes as may be over drawing the old wiring . If can then goes start chasing it from the fan back.

Fan speed control is what worries me. Try getting one of those these days.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean, they would be like hens teeth.

That's why best to check for voltage at each part, so you can pin point the fault.

i think the motors have brushes that wear out does it work if you give it a small tap with a hammer or pliers your not beating the **** out of it.
Thats a big think for the bushes as Ive only ever changed the motor cant remember ever pulling one apart can remember changing a few .

Ok so just to update. Got home and changed the fuse. Although it wasn't broken it was only rated to 5 amps. Put in the 16 amp and the fan worked again. A little squeaky like a mouse wheel. I only need to last till the rwc tomorrow. Here's hoping.
