Quick question.
VN 5 litre has 3 vee belts.

I know the A/C one is a 13A 0840 (had to replace a missing one)

What are the ALT

and Power steer belt sizes?

thanks

Just saw your post as I have not been online much lately. Belt numbers check ok with my spare Bosch belts. Check your water pump for worn bearing play by moving the end up and down, side to side while the belts are off. Regards Gazza

When the motor comes out I'll be replacing the water pump, harmonic bal. , fuel press reg, been servicing it "in car" as best can do, to make sure everything is working spot on before pulling it out.

Had a '91 VP "S" the water pump died at 130,000. Harmonic bal. was done on that one around 190,000km

Will overhaul the alternator & starter motor myself (yes I am an Auto sparky - did my apprenticeship when VK's came out)

Pwr steer pump will be replaced too.

Plus all the usual consumables (htr. hoses etc)

ps Dayco belts are your best bet.

Hello,

I've had to make some mods to get my P/S pump and ALT closer to the block to clear my chassis rails.

Now I'm using 11A 1125 for the ALT, and an 11A 1090 for the P/S pump.

there's cut-outs in the frame horns to allow the Alt & P/S belt clearance.

I also put an older model sump & oil pick up on the VN motor, so the "deep end" is at the back now.
I cut the windage tray from the VN and welded the modified version into the older sump, also moved the dipstick back to the passenger's side, and it sits at plug # 6 now.
Cheers, Mudgy
