Thanks to the tips from this site about how to check fault codes, and what they indicate, I have a Code 22 fault.

So I took the TB off, and gave it a good clean with aerosol carbie cleaner. Took out the TPS, and it was really filthy - so gave it a good clean as well.

This seemed to fix the problem - the engine light on the dash no longer lit up....

After a day, it has returned. I checked the fault code again - Code 22. The ECU has been reset....

So the question is - is the fault within the TPS (and therefore simply replacing the TPS will fix this fault), or is something else causing the low-voltage signal *to* the TPS ? This is the first time in almost 20 years that I have used the diagnostics to check a fault, so have NFI how to interpret the fault code 22.

thanks
:)

does your car rev strangely? when you put your foot down do the revs sometimes go up as normal but your car doesnt really seem to move? if so then you should replace the tps (like 10-15 bucks at a wreckers), but if your car seems ok and doesnt have any problems like that then your tps is probably fine and there may be another error in the car that is setting off the error code (the vn and vp error code checking system was never top notch, its known to confuse error codes with other error codes lol). good luck mate

thanks for that - I ended up getting a 2nd hand TPS from the local Holden specialist here - $20 well spent. Warning light has disappeared and car running well....
