G'day, I've got a fairly standard VL that i want to replace the suspension in and fit some nicer wheels.
I've measured some VY calais 17" wheels that i've got and they wont fit under the strut/stone guard part. If i was to lower the car, does the new suspension accommodate for the larger size of the rims, or do you have to get a particular brand or type?

I'm only looking at 17 or 18" rims, but for interests sake how do people fit 20"s on VL's? Looks squashy.

Cheers, Jason.

245/45R17 is more or less the same rolling diameter as a 205/65R15, just for reference. What did you measure would not fit? Myself, along with many other people have fitted genuine Holden wheels to VL's with a 235/45R17 tyre with no worries at all. They do fit.

I'm running 235/45/R17 VY SS rims on my VL and it's got Pedders lowered suspension and king spring lows [not super] all around and I get no rubbing or anything.

This guy has 20" Petrol Metrix wheels, whatever the hell that brand is lol. Dunno about tyre specs, just had the picture:

I just measured from the ground up to the strut stone guard...looks extremely slim, but on the other had i can't remember the tyre specs off the top of my head. I'm going to trial fit one day, but then i've seen some decent 18's and wouldnt mind being able to fit them too.

I used to run 225 35/18 on the front and 235 35/18 on the rear, king lows and rarely rubbed on my old vl
