Does anyone know if the east-wet SR 20 DET's are easy to come by?

i can get you plenty of em' you wanna pay though? det's come in GTiR pulsars as mentioned, and i think the blue birds came out with them east west too, but dont know 100% bout that one.

anyway, TBH SR's are not a small engine once you bolt on all the bells and whistles, i would be looking more at the starlet turbo as someone has already mentioned. itll fit much better, they still pack a punch, and they sound f'ing brilliant with a screamer pipe :D

you gotta remember, you gotta get a motor AND transmission AND steering all in a little engine bay. you can do it. but what a head f...k

edit* here ya go:

YouTube - Toyota starlet 13b turbo

Thats a peripheral ported 13b turbo. Rotaries are nuts, I miss my rx2 sooo much, being able to fry the tyres at 120 km/h in a 1.3 litre engine was great fun.

There is a guy in Britain currently doing a 13b turbo conversion on a mini.

+1 vote for 13b. as long as you dont mind rebuilding them every few thousand kms, you got a winner ;)

only prob now is how the f.. do you make it fwd? pretty sure there are no fwd 13bs...

Mounting the engine east west is only a matter of finding a FWD gearbox that fits to 13b (it would be very hard!) and has the right sizing as to how far the actual diff is set back from the gearbox as the drive shafts will not line up if all this is wrong and custom mounting the engine (also pretty difficult)..

And turbod 13b.. Twisted chassis anyone???

he could always go rwd mini... there is a tunnel in a mini anyway, alls' he need to do is widen out the diff area of the floor and run a 9 inch :D

a 9" in that... over kill a little.

i would prefer rwd in it, or awd

did the 13b come with a manual box?

umm, whats it matter if it didnt? Rotaries can run auto or manual. Best thing about rotaries, is you can move them around so easily. I used to rebuild mine in a few hours, that time included removal and re-install.
