Fuel Consumption

I am sure as you break the engine in a bit, performance improves and so does fuel economy. I am on the M4/local driving and am running 16.6L/100KMs

I posted this elsewhere, but thought I should add to this thread as well ...

I have an SV6 manual sedan ... only have 1500 k's up,

First fill at 55k's, used std unleaded,
Next fill at 533k's, took 55.18l ... filled with Caltex Vortex
Next fill at 1114k's, took 63.95l ... filled with BP Ultimate
Almost due again ... with 1500+k's on the clock ...

So, from my calc, for consumption, I get ...

478k's from 55.18l = 11.5l per 100
581ks from 63.95l = 11.0l per 100

I have done manual calc's here, and suggest that is the only way to get an accurate reading. Do not rely solely on the trip computer ... it is only a guide, and remember to fully fill the tank so you know you are measuring from / to the same fill point each time (and don't rely on the fuel pump first click / 2nd click etc as they are all out) I fill mine to the top so I can see the fuel in neck of the fuel hose in the car.

If we can all keep a record and post details, we will get a better idea of the fuel consumption.

It really is a small world, I saw your VZSV6 at N*wi gt n Shops about a week before I bought my SV6 and thought how nice it looked and had a bit of "green eye envy". Nice work with it BTW, it looks good.

Here's an update ...

Next fill at 1712km, took 56.9l, used vortex ...
Next one at 2197km, took 63.48l, used ultimate ...

So, calc's are ...

598 k's ... 9.5 l per 100 (this was mainly h'way for the whole tank)
485 k's ... 13.1 l per 100 (this incl a heavy 'load' (8 cartons or beer with ice and 3 passengers) for no more than 100k's, and mainly stop start local driving, but no hard foot to the firewall sessions)

For the record ... the other records / driving conditions ...

478k's from 55.18l = 11.5l per 100 (50/50 highway / stop start ... and some foot to the firewall sessions - it's a new car gotta test it!)
581ks from 63.95l = 11.0l per 100 (50/50 hway / stop start ... and some hard foor to the firewall sessions on highway - still testing the new car!)

Just thought id let everyone know that we are getting better fuel economy now since we have done 1k kms its got better.Done 1,600kms now and doing 10.39 litres per 100kms.

We live just outside of Adelaide so we are in 80km and 100km zones for a bit.

Just loves this car

I am up to 1400ks and it is guzzling fuel, there must be a problem. Since filling up 1 - 2 days ago, it has sat on 22L/100ks . I do some M4 driving in the mix, so I have a bit of 80-100k zones as well.

What are you driving ... 175 or 190 engine?

190 SV6 Man and I am keeping the revs down atm to see if it is just my driving...
