2018 Calais v
Just bought a zb Calais v and wondering what fuel and what results people have .I filled it with 98 to start with but curious is this needed or 95 ?What results in consumption do people see with different fuels. I just sold a vy with ls1 and fuels made a huge difference with that car. Must say so far I am pretty impressed with the Calais after owning the old model since virtually new .

There are a fair few threads on here covering the various opinions. Here is one.

Your car will run on 91 (or E10 if it says), but 95/98 may give benefits to consumption or cleanliness.
The benefit of 98 over 95 is probably debatable.

I saw terrible fuel consumption on my first few tanks of 91 so it's just had 95 or 98 since.
I also think it sounds bette, but might be placebo!

As the Calais V is a V6 it only needs 91, I think fuel use is excellent for the V6, on country trips with a RSV I use 6.8 to 7.1, mostly 6.8. Around town considerably heavier on fuel.

I run mine on 91 and it's fine. The price difference between 91 and 95 over here is such that the poorer fuel economy from 91 is more than cancelled out by the savings per litre.

I only bother with 91. As @StrayKiwi says the extra price of 95 isn't worth it over here.
It’s not worth it here in Straya either. If your car can run on 91 it’s always the cheapest option per kilometre. 95 and 98 are only worth it if they are compulsory (ie: your car has to run on 95 or 98).
