I used “sedan with spoiler” on a boot lid on a sedan without a spoiler. I’m sure you could do this:

Just like the Maloo hard lid with standard Holden ute struts.

I'm assuming that as I don't have one of these, the lid might just open a little slower.

I know I'm over 4 months late on this thread but I did a search here for Braumach and got this very helpful thread giving people's opinions on this strut. I need new ones for both tailgate and hood, and recently having bought the car, I got the impression from the seller (one owner, had it for 15 years) that they'd never been replaced. But since I have now found out that he's lied or deceived me on at least five other things, I just couldn't be sure if they have or haven't. They still work at the top of the arc - that is, they hold the hood or tailgate up, just need a bit of assistance getting there. From other posters here, I wouldn't have thought the factory ones would have lasted 15 years.

Anyway, was a bit shocked at the price of "genuine" ones - from AMCAP, which was about $179 just for the rear tailgate ones. Plus GST, plus petrol to go get 'em.

And the Braumach on ebay are about $85 for the whole set - front and rear - and that's including postage! Now that seems a bit CHEAP to me. Which is why I came on here to see what others thought of them.

A lot of the parts for the VE were made in China - which I'm not overly fussed about. Probably the gas struts also. The seller (also Braumach), in the description says that their parts are sourced from various places around the world incl USA, Australia, Europe and Asia. At that price, I have absolutely no doubts where they were made. Just because they have a German name on a box and a sticker on them doesn't mean anything. But according to other people's experiences here, they sound good. So I'll probably go for the set of 4.

They have a force rating (300N) on the pictures on ebay so I'll confirm with the seller that's what I will be sent,

Once I've installed them I'll give my impressions of quality.

thanks.
