i have an auto vk and i just changed the gearbox over. im trying to line up the selector with the rod to the gearbox.
it seems that i can change from drive to nuetral with out lifting the tab on the shifter.

i just want to know if its normal for this or is it supposed to be like newer commodores where you have to lift the tab to go from drive to nuetral.

Not sure on the commy boxes precisly but I know it used to be a safety thing to be able to knock it out of drive and into neutral.
But the new cars you can only go reverse (from neutral into drive) which I find od.

i thought it was strange that the vk was able to go from drive into neutral. my vr doesnt do it but i cant look at the metal plate the shifter runs along to check if they are the same because it is at the mechanics. i was hoping someone would know so i could finaly get the vk running this week
