VE SS Ute Manual 2009
Hi All

I have a 2003 Vy ss auto..The gearbox seems to be a bit slow to change from 1st to 2nd but doesn't seem to slip..The car has only done 74k.The other gears change up fine..I have heard of modifications available to speed up the changes..Anyone have any ideas or suggestions....Hope im not up for a new box

Thanks
Alan

Try and solve the problem as to why its changing slow before asking the box to perform harder by using something like a shift kit.

When was the last time it had an oil change?

Every 20-30,000km wouldn't hurt. You can go longer but I wouldn't.

I'd bet that the shifts will improve with a decent oil change.

If your good with a spanner, a 4L60E oil change is pretty straight-forward and the kits and oil can be bought in many places, otherwise you shouldn't pay more than $150 for a gearbox joint to do it.

s/charged v6 HR Holden, s/charged v6 EH Holden,
Check the oil level too , & its a good idea to install a transmission oil cooler kit too . Heat kills Auto Trannies....
