I have an issue with my clutch which I am pursuing under Allianz warranty. I have to pay for the removal of gearbox and inspection and was quoted 7 hours labour from holden@ $140 per hour ish. Does 7 hours sound right?

Sounds a lot to me but $140 from a stealership is probably about right. I presume you have some sort of extended warranty?? Unfortunately they are hardly worth the paper they are written on.

the clutches in the ve are easy as to get out 7 hrs is way too long, think i paid like $3-400 for my last clutch install...

I have had the Allianz Extended Warranty (terms and conditions IDENTICAL to the factory warranty) . Certainly worth every cent I paid for it. Found the Dealer was more than keen to pursue a claim with them (as opposed to Holden) as apparently Allianz paid a higher workshop rate !! I paid $1,000.00 for 2 years and my claims were worth more than that so I reckon Extended Warranties are GREAT:clap:

i've done maybe 20-30 gearbox's/clutch's in VE's and as was said earlier it's easy to get out within an hour or so, even a decent mechanic that hasn't done it before could do it in under 2
