It all sounds like along the lines we were thinking,just wear something nice,go out to dinner, then just go away somewhere.

I can echo the above, I got married at the regisrty also, I wore skirt & top, hubby (now ex) wore slacks & shirt no tie, then we joined the family for dinner later that night.

I asked my wedding celebrant mate and they said that your best bet is to just have a "wedding ceremony" however you want it, make it a dinner with a few friends, have a cake, make speeches, get plastered, have wild crazy sex that night, all that, but do the paperwork another day.

It's like what happens if your birthday falls on a wednesday. You might be 20 on wednesday, but you celebrate it on the Friday. Same thing, sign the forms whenever, but make the EVENT special.

think it was around $300 with booking and ceremony fees... not 100% sure cause it was 7 years ago (victoria)... anyone else that wants to know just go to births deaths & marriages internet page of your state to find out....

cost me about $90 just for the registry office fees if i remember right, but that was 20 years ago, also in victoria..seems to have gone up a bit since i got married.

it is $147 to lodge the notice of intended marriage and $190 for the ceremony fee for a monday to friday or $283 for the ceremony fee for a friday evening,weekend or public holiday.
