Guide: VT / VX steering wheel controls on stereo upgrade

done it today,SWC now works perfect with my aftermarket stereo
just want to add,for my situation,I only had to bridge pin 3 to the back of stereo to make it work

Just upgrading my stereo from standard to Calais Unit. Following you directions do you just splice into the clock spring loom or cut the loom and join the wires from head unit to the clock spring plug?

Any help most appreciated
