My series 1 vf redline hand brake failed while was on the hill. Rolled back but was lucky enough to jump back in and save it. It has come up with service hand brake but after resetting the car it works fine. And before you could hear the brake as you pulled up and pushed down the button. Now theres no noise, makes me whonder if it works..

Any help would be appreicated

Wow, that's a bit of a worry (I have a series 1 too). Personally, I love the electronic handbrake but you certainly don't get the positive feedback that you do with the old lever type. I think a trip to the dealer or your local trusted mechanic is in order.

Always good practise to leave the car in gear as a secondary brake.

Maybe pull the rotors off and inspect the handbrake shoes, can also have a recalibration done with the right scan tool.

Shouldn't roll in Park?

Sounds like the possibility of 2 failures at once.

The handbrake and the transmission

Or the handbrake and driver error (not in park)

Or driver error (didn't engage handbrake) and driver error (not in park)

It's lucky the car didn't take him with it when he jumped into it whilst rolling back as normally the open door would take you out.

Yeah i was pretty much half out the car and it almost took me. I put it in nuteral then pulled up hand brake and proceeded to get out then it didnt stop. I then put it in park and that held it.

Should have logged codes in the Park brake module.
