handbrake light is stuck on when the handbrake is off!

As the title states the handbrake light is always on even when the handbrake is off, is there a common fix for this?

pull the console apart and make sure the simple switch is ok and that the wire isn'tjammed between the console and the chassis with worn thru insulation and continually grounding (pulling the globe out won't rectify the problem as the cluster will keep beeping)

Check your fluid level, its a dual brake fault warning lamp

As Andrew said, check the fluid.

Okay that would make sense as the brakes are getting worse every day. So any good links on bleeding and fluid change of the brakes as I can only assume that would fix the problem........ if that is the problem.

If the light is on because the M/C switch has tripped a simple bleed probably won't solve the problem. I'd be looking for a fluid leak and fixing that first. Possibly master cylinder but it could be any of the wheel cylinders, a hose or a fitting that is leaking. Whatever it is you'll have to bleed the system after replacing (repairing?) it anyway.

If it is a hose, unless it's obviously damaged, it will be sensible to replace all of them.

start with the basics - top up the brake master cylinder and see if the light goes out, fluid level and handbrake warning run on the same circult.

There can be an internal leak in the M/C that trips the switch.
