Happy Labour Day (NZ)!

Lets all just take a minute to remind ourselves why we celebrate Labour Day, something that tends to be forgotten these days when people are connected to work 24/7 electronically.

I realise that in Australia you celebrate this on different days to us Kiwi's but non the less thought it was appropriate with all that has gone on in the last few years where we are pushed to work ever longer days.

Here's to the standard 8 hour working day and 40 hour working week!

It is great,
But I cannot remember how long ago it was that I actually worked a 5day X 8hr job.
Employers generally squeeze at least a little bit more out of employees (for little to no bonus)

Yup and that's my point. Employers seem to forget we work on the basis of a standard 40 hour week, not 42 or 45 like most employers expect these days and there are a lot that expect employees to work Saturdays too.

A lot of European countries have actually worked out that employees are more productive on a shorter week but here in NZ they only seem to be able to equate more productivity with longer work hours and it's one of the reasons that NZ is going backwards compared to most other OECD countries.

Work smarter, not harder!

Oh **** ! .............of course it is . Just confirmed it on my phone.
Should have known, because if it is Tuesday, I should be in Tenterfield, not Newcastle.
This is what happens when you retire ....... every day is Wunday.
