Harmonic balancer replacement

The harmonic balancer on my VR has **** itself and I can get one from a VP. Will it fit?
I know early VPs were differant and how can I tell . The vp was a 92 model but is there any way to tell from looking at the balancer?
Or bite the bullet and get a new one?
How hard to change the front seal while I am there?

The VR should fit but you will have to use the Crank Angle Sensor as well.
The seal is easy, lever out without damaging the housing then gasket goo, not silastic, and tap the new seal back in.
